The Election Commission will probe a complaint against Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister P Chidambaram for allegedly holding offices of profit in the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswamy said on Saturday.

A meeting of all the members of the Election Commission will take place sometime next week to decide the fate of the petition filed by an invidividual against Dr Singh and Chidambaram.

President A P J Abdul Kalam had forwarded the petition to the EC for its views on Friday.

"We have received this complaint only three days back. We will find out the exact details, like date of appointment and benefits if any," Gopalaswamy told reporters.

But according to experts, the petition is likely to be dismissed by the EC, as Parliament has passed an amendment where the trustees of the government foundations or private foundations are excluded from the category of office of profit.
