Film actor Sanjay Dutt will appear before a TADA court on Thursday to give his statement on the quantum of sentence to be awarded to him.

He was held guilty on charges of possessing an AK-56 rifle and a 9 mm pistol prior to the 1993 bomb blasts in Mumbai.

Sanjay will appear on Thursday, along with other accused Zebunisa Kazi, defence lawyer Farhana Shah told PTI.

Sanjay was held guilty on Tuesday under the Arms Act for possessing weapons but he was acquitted under TADA and IPC on charges of conspiracy.

The actor was held guilty under Sections 3 and 7 of Arms Act for possessing a pistol and an AK-56 rifle respectively.

While Section 3 attracts punishment ranging from one year to three years, Section 7 provides minimum punishment of five years and maximum ten.

The court has given verdict in the cases of 94 accused and six more remain to receive the judgement.

After pronouncing the verdict, the court summons the accused to hear him on quantum of sentence. Sanjay and Zebunisa would give their submission on Thursday, as others have already given their statements.

The actor has been given time until December 19 to surrender.

It was the case of CBI that co-accused Abu Salem and his associates had delivered arms to Sanjay at the instance of Anees Ibrahim, absconding prime accused and brother of Dawood Ibrahim.

The weapons were then transported from his residence to the house of co-accused Zebunisa Kazi.
