A Public Interest Litigation was moved before the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Tuesday against allotment of a huge chunk of government owned prime land, very close to the state capital to superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

Taking note of the petition, the Court directed the advocate general to "seek instructions" from the government.

Senior Judge of the bench Justice Jagdish Bhalla has fixed October 16 for initial hearing in the case.

The petitioner, Satya Narain Shukla, has alleged that seven bighas (about 20,000 sq metres) of government land was clandestinely allotted to Bachchan in Barabanki district, barely 35 km from the state capital.

Alleging serious violation of all rules and norms, the petition has further sought to draw the attention of the court to "willful concealment and misrepresentation of facts" by the superstar.

"In an obvious bid to avoid identification, Bachchan has mentioned his name as just Amitabh and even in father's name, Harvansh Rai Bachchan, he has cleverly dropped Bachchan", the petitioner said in Lucknow on Tuesday evening.
