As part of its probe in connection with seizure of a cellphone from a prisoner in high security Kotbalwal jail in Jammu, the Intelligence wing of Jammu and Kashmir police will quiz Harkat-ul-Ansar militant Ruhail Hashmi lodged in Sangrur jail in neighbouring Punjab.

"The counter intelligence wing of state Criminal Investigation Department (CID) will quiz Hashmi in connecting with seizure of a mobile phone in Kotbalwal jail on October 19," officials told PTI.

Intelligence sleuths had seized the cellphone (9906872239) from prisoner Gurmail Singh in Barrack number two in Block number 14 of high security Kotbalwal jail. During preliminary investigations, Gurmail claimed that the cellphone was given to him by Hashmi before the latter was shifted to a Punjab jail on July 21 by authorities after clashes between local and foreign militants in Jammu.

Thirty prison employees and security officials, including Central Reserve Police Force jawans have also been interrogated over the past two days, they said. The records of SIM card will be procured from the mobile phone company, for which a formal request had been made, officials said.
