Pravin Mahajan had allegedly threatened his brother Pramod a few days before shooting him after the senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader refused to meet his demand for Rs 1 crore, Pramod's wife Rekha told a sessions court on Tuesday.

Rekha said that a few days before the shooting on April 22, 2006, Pravin had come to their residence and demanded a sum of Rs one core from his elder brother Pramod.

Pramod tried to convince him that he did not have that much money due to which Pravin got angry and after threatening the BJP leader of dire consequences, left the house angrily, she said.

Pravin is accused of shooting Pramod multiple times with his licensed gun at the latter's Worli residence, resulting in his death.

Rekha, who earlier told the court that she had seen Pravin fire at least one bullet at Pramod, was being cross-examined by defence counsel Harshad Ponda when she stated the event that allegedly occurred a few days prior to the incident.

Ponda had asked Rekha if she could explain her earlier statement to the court where she said that after firing shots at Pramod, Pravin told him that he had to bear the consequences as he did not listened to him.

After hearing her reply, Ponda alleged that she had been tutored by the prosecution which was firmly denied by Rekha.
