76 bombs recovered in Nandigram

Altogether 76 bombs were found near a brick kiln in Nandigram on Sunday, Central Reserve Polic Force officials said.

Acting on a tip-off, CRPF personnel went to the Janani brick kiln area with sniffer dogs and found the bombs hidden in the bushes.

"The bombs would be handed over to the police," CRPF Assistant Commandant Arindam Upadhyay said.

On March 17, the Central Bureau of Investigation arrested 10 people hiding in the Janani brick kiln on charges of rioting. Leaders of the anti-acquisition Bhumi Uched Pratirodh Committee complained to the police that the brick kilns were used to stockpile arms and bombs.

Khejuri is a Communist Party of India-Marxist stronghold from where they allegedly hurled bombs at BUPC activists in Satengabari and Sherkhanchawk villages across Talpati canal.
