Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy has reacted with joy over the dropping of charges against Dr Haneef Mohammed.

Sounding relieved, Kumaraswamy said that the brand of Bangalore, which had taken a beating after Haneef's detention, has now been cleared after charges against Haneef were dropped.

He also added that Bangalore is not a hub for terrorists.

Kumaraswamy told rediff.com that he was relieved and happy for the family. This is good news for Karnataka, he added.

Meanwhile, the state government will also do its bit to exert pressure to ensure that Haneef is not deported.

The Home Department is expected to convey the message to the Centre regarding this issue.

However, some persons feel that it is too early to say that Bangalore is cleared of all terror links.

Sabeel Ahmed now faces trial in Britain on charges of having information about the plot and Kafeel, a key suspect, still lies in hospital. The duo, who are brothers, are also residents of Bangalore.
