Gorakhpur blasts: Cops pick up 15 for questioning

Police have got important clues about the serial blasts that shook the busy Golghar area on Tuesday and fifteen people have been rounded up for interrogation.

DGP Girdhari Lal Sharma, who visited the site of the blasts said investigations were underway to find out the motive behind the blasts.

He, however, did not give details about the clues.

"Checking of hotels, bus and railway stations is going on, the borders have been sealed and strict vigil is being maintained," said Sharma, who was accompanied by Principal Secretary (Home) K Chandramauli and ADGP Shailjakant Misra.

The ADM (City) P K Agrawal said 15 people have been rounded up for interrogation.

A team of Special Task Force of UP police under the leadership of SP Amitabh Yash is investigating the case.

Meanwhile, the strike called by various organisations to protest Tuesday's blasts had a mixed response.

Some shops in Golghar remained closed till afternoon but opened later in the day.

The BJP on Wednesday constituted a three-member team to investigate the blasts.

The team is headed by the party's vice president Surya Pratap Shahi and includes local MLA Radha Mohan Das Agrawal and Ramapati as members.

Controversial local MP Yogi Adityanath also visited the site of the blasts.

Three serial blasts occurred on Tuesday evening in the busy Golghar area of the city, which injured five persons.
