With the Communist Party of India-Marxist capturing some areas near Nandigram over the past few days, an eight-party anti-land acquisition organisation on Thursday said that the areas would be 'freed soon with people's help.'

"Just wait. The areas captured by the CPI-M will be freed soon with help from the people," said Gana Unnayan O Jana Adhikar Sangram Samity president Maulana Siddiqulla Chowdhury.

Claiming a large number of residents of the 'captured' villages have left their homes following the CPI-M onslaught, Chowdhury said that a delegation of the Samity would visit Nandigram on Friday to express solidarity with the affected people.

"The people of Nandigram want peace. They are being attacked by outsiders. Now the people will resist," he said.

Chowdhury admitted that Maoists were present in Nandigram, but said he did not know whether they were actually residing in the area.
