The outlawed Communist Party of India-Maoist has called for a Bihar-Jharkhand bandh on November 19 and 20 to protest against the Nandigram killings and in support of the struggling farmers.

Two days after calling for a fight against the 'fascist Communist Party of India-Marxist' for perpetrating violence and unleashing terror on the people, the CPI-Maoist alerted all its members, sub-committees, squads, militia and People's Liberation Guerilla Army to ensure that the bandh is a success.

The CPI-Maoist said, "The red flag-bearing government of West Bengal has openly supported capitalists. It has started uprooting farmers and their families from the land to make room for industrialists."

"This is not a question of Nandigram or West Bengal alone, but also of Orissa, Jharkhand and other places in the country where Special Economic Zones are being set up at the behest of the Centre. It supports multi-national corporations letting loose a reign of mass murders on innocent people," CPI-Maoist leader Rakesh said.

The CPI-Maoist appealed to people living around SEZs across the country to join their agitation to oust MNCs.

In defence of the use of violence in Nandigram, the CPI-Maoist said that self-defence was the only option left to persons threatened by State-sponsored displacement in Nandigram.

In view of the Maoist call for a bandh, the state government has decided to alert the police and deploy additional forces. The East Central Railway may cancel some trains.
