A terror suspect who was temporarily staying at a mosque has been arrested in Sajjangarh.

Police detained Ijufar Rehman (53), a resident of Bharauch in Gujarat, on Saturday when he tried to flee after the villagers suspected him to be a terror suspect, Additional SP Banswara Jagram Meena told PTI.

Rehman had taken shelter at a mosque in Sajjangarh village, he said.

The suspect sustained fracture in his leg while trying to escape from the mosque, police said adding, he is undergoing orthopaedic treatment under police vigil in a government hospital in Udaipur.

A sum of Rs 22,171, two mobile SIM cards and other documents were seized from him, Meena said.

However, the SP said it is too early to link the man with any crime. Rehman will be interrogated after he recovered from his illness.

Meanwhile, security has been beefed up at the famous Tripura Sundari temple at Banswara following a threat call to blow it up on Saturday.
