Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra has appointed three former chief secretaries of the state as his advisors to assist him in the effective administration of the state.

Those appointed as advisors are H H Tyabji, Dr S S Bloeria and C Phunsog -- all of whom are retired IAS officers of the Jammu and Kashmir cadre and have served as chief secretaries to the state government besides holding other important assignments in the state and central governments.

The ongoing agitation in the Jammu region and the situation in the Kashmir Valley seem to have forced Vohra to reverse his earlier decision not to appoint any advisor and had invested secretary to government with powers to deal with the issues of their respective departments.

The advisors are expected to assume responsibility shortly.

Meanwhile, Vohra reviewed the law and order situation in the Jammu region and impressed upon law enforcing agencies to ensure the safety of life and property of the people.

Addressing a high level meeting of the senior officers of the civil administration, police and army Thursday afternoon, the Governor directed that all measures be taken to maintain communal harmony and instil confidence among all sections of the society.

He also reviewed the movement of supplies on the national highway and other major routes, and asked authorities to ensure that uninterrupted flow of supplies are maintained in every area.
