The owner of Kuber, the boat which was used by the terrorists to reach Mumbai, has left for the city to verify various items recovered from the boat.

"Vinod Masani has gone to Mumbai to verify various items recovered from Kuber by the Mumbai Police. The Mumbai Crime Branch officials had requested him to come to Mumbai and help them in identifying the boat and its belongings," Porbandar Superintendent of Police Dipanker Trivedi told PTI.

"He has left for Mumbai along with some of his trusted men," Trivedi added.

When asked if Masani has been taken into custody by the Mumbai police, Trivedi said he has been called only for verification and questioning.

Sources in the Porbandar Boats' Association also confirmed that Masani has gone to Mumbai for document verification.

Masani's boat was hijacked by the terrorists who wreaked havoc in India's financial capital and held the city to ransom for over 60 hours.

Sources also said there were five fishermen aboard Kuber. Body of one of the fishermen was found in the boat, which was abandoned off the Mumbai coast.

However, the bodies of other fishermen, who were in Kuber, are yet to be found.
