Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee president Suresh Pachouri has offered to quit from his post owning responsibility for the party's likely defeat in the state assembly elections.

Congress sources said that although Pachouri has decided to go, no single leader can be held responsible for the defeat as in a democracy, victory or loss are collective things.

The sources said Pachouri has conveyed his offer of resignation to the party high command.

State Congress spokesman K K Mishra said no single person can be held responsible for the impending defeat and added that collective responsibility should be fixed for this defeat also.
