Reacting sharply to the Chinese protest over Prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh's description that Arunachal was part of India, Kiran Rijiju, Member of Parliament from Arunachal Pradesh said the protest of the Chinese was meaningless.

"I would say that the Chinese are taking things too far and the whole boundary issue is getting serious," he said, who was disallowed by the Chinese government to visit the country on the plea that he could visit China without a visa and a passport which evoked patriotic response from Rijiju and others like him in Arunachal Pradesh.

He wanted to know why the India was being apologetic in defending its own land from the Chinese who was set their eyes on Tawang.
"Though Dr Singh avoided visiting Tawang under pressure from the Chinese, still they have lodged a protest with the Indian government," Rijiju said.

He appreciated the bold move of the prime minister in appointing former chief of army General J J Singh as governor of the state and thereby sending in strong signals to China that India does not accept the Chinese claim over Tawang.

"It is no longer good enough to have 1962 resolution. A new resolution needs to be adopted by Parliament not only declaring that Arunachal was an integral part of India but resolving that every inch of its territory would be defended," he added.
