Three bombs, placed in containers, were found on the road near Marwar in Pali district on Tuesday afternoon, the police said. A team of the bomb disposal squad from Jodhpur defused the explosives on the spot.

The bombs, put in half-litre oil containers, were planted on the Marwar-Ranawas Road at gap of one km and were spotted by onlookers, a police spokesman told UNI over telephone.

Each bomb box was placed on the road side after every three kms, the SP said. The box carried a bundle of fuse wire, 30-40 marbles, 8 iron plates, and detonator, the SP said, adding there was no timer nor any electronic devise attached to the explosives.

"These bomb could not go off automatically as there was no timer or electronic device in it...even if lobbed from a distance, it could not explode", he said.

"The bomb could be ignited only by a match stick", the SP said.

Villagers noticed the bombs on the road side and informed the police station, Sharma said.

A case under the Explosive Substance Act was registered with the Marwar Junction police station, he said.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje chaired a high-level meeting with the police, intelligence and home department officials to review the state's law and order in view of the serial bomb blasts in Ahmedabad and Bangalore.

Raje asked the officials to be vigil and make concerted effort to ensure a fearless society and take no chance on account of terror, an official said.
