Former domestic helps and certain persons known to them are being questioned in connection with the murder of a 14-year-old girl and a domestic servant in a Noida residence.

"We have not given any clean chit to anyone. There are many servants who have come and gone in Talwars' house and many who have come and gone as replacements," Noida Senior Superintendent of Police Satish Ganesh told media persons on Monday night after a high-level meeting to review the progress in the case.

The body of Aarushi Talwar, daughter of Rajesh and Nupur Talwar, both dentists, was found in the bedroom of their house on Friday morning and immediately police suspected the hand of Hemraj, their domestic help, in the murder. A day later, the body of Hemraj was found on the terrace of the house.

While no one has been arrested, the suspects include Vishnu, the former help who had introduced slain Hemraj to the family.

Ganesh said there are a number of people who were being questioned. Seven or eight people, who have worked for the Talwar household, were being questioned, he said.

Asked by media persons whether police have given a clean chit to the family of Aarushi or whether it held the view that Vishnu was the main suspect, Ganesh said: "We have not given clean chit to anyone, nor are we saying that so and so is responsible for the crime."

He said the investigations were going on the right track and a number of leads were being pursued.

"We are doing a thorough investigation and all the evidence was being scientifically analysed," he said.

Ganesh refused to disclose who of the two may have been killed first. However, he said the modus operandi was the same in both the murders and the timing was almost the same.

The SSP also discounted various theories about reports that the girl's telephone was last used in Delhi's Mayur Vihar, close to Noida, saying unless the phone was seized nothing could be said about it.
