The operation mounted by security personnel, against the terrorists holed up inside Nariman House in south Mumbai, finally came to an end on Friday night.

The operation, involving personnel from the National Security Guard, the Rapid Action Force, the Black Cats and the Mumbai Police, had started on Thursday night.

Addressing the media after the Nariman House operation, NSG Director General J K Dutt said that although they have secured the building by killing the two terrorists, they will only transfer it to local authorities after complete sanitisation.

The DG said that three dead bodies of the residents were found on the second floor and the other two on the fourth floor.

"The two holed up terrorists were also killed on the fourth floor. One of our commandos, Gajendra Singh, also made his supreme sacrifice here during the operation. We have also found some explosives, which include unexploded grenades," Dutt said.

"During the intensive operation, we made sure that there was no harm to the civilians in this populated area and also that the hostages remain safe," he added.
