A fifth person allegedly involved in the molestation and abduction of a German girl surrendered on Friday before a local court which sent him to two days in police custody and also extended the remand of four other suspects.

Sompal, who was absconding, surrendered in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Kanchan Mahi in Chandigarh.

He joined in the court room the other four suspects whose police remand ended on Friday.

While Pankaj Punia and Harpreet Singh alias Dalli were arrested by police from Ambala, Manveer alias Jolly and Sukhwinder Singh alias Sukhi had surrendered before the CJM court.

The 20-year-old girl was abducted by five youths from the parking lot of a five-star hotel in the city on Saturday night.

The accused later on Sunday left her in the city and on her complaint, police registered a case of molestation, abduction and attempt to rape against the five persons.

Police had already impounded the two vehicles allegedly used by the accused in the crime.

While sending Sompal to two days of police custody, the court remanded Jolly, Sukhi, Dalli and Punia to 14 days in judicial custody.

Accepting the pleas of Punia and Dalli, the CJM allowed their identification parade test in front of the victim. However, the court declined the police request for identification parade test of Jolly, Sukhi and Sompal as was sought by their counsels.

With the arrest of two accused from Ambala and surrender of the remaining three, the police claimed to have taken into custody all the youths allegedly involved in the crime.
