Bengaluru is gearing up for the three-day national executive of the Bharatiya Janata Party, which kicks off at 11.55 am on Friday. The BJP leaders will plan their strategy for the Lok Sabha elections and finalise the issues to be raised during the campaign.

According to sources, the BJP has decided to go on the offensive about the contentious issues of price rise and internal security. The party feels that both the issues have hit the common man hard, and highlighting them would better their prospects in the forthcoming elections.

The national executive would also chalk out plans for the assembly elections in Delhi, Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, as victory in the state elections will boost the party's performance during the parliamentary polls.

While the India-United States nuclear deal agreement also figures on the party's agenda, senior leaders don't want to stress too much on it as it has emerged as the main issue for the Left Front.

The BJP plans to steer clear of the Third Front headed by Mayawati, as any association with them might dampen the party's prospects at the national level.

The national executive, comprising over 200 delegates, will hold their parleys behind closed doors. The BJP will also hold a public meeting at the National College grounds in Bengaluru to convey their poll strategy to the public.

The party will use the public meeting as a forum to thank the voters of the state for bringing the party to power in Karnataka for the first time.

Top BJP leaders including L K Advani, Rajnath Singh, Narendra Modi, Jaswant Singh and Manohar Joshi arrived in Bangalore on Thursday evening amidst tight security.
