Work towards Advani as PM: Vajpayee

Bharatiya Janata Party's top leader Atal Behari Vajpayee has told partymen to go the extra mile for installing Lal Kishenchand Advani as the next prime minister.

Vajpayee, the former prime minister, gave this message to partymen through party president Rajnath Singh at the national executive here that the cadre should strive with dedication and commitment to make Advani the premier, according to party spokesperson Ravi Shankar Prasad.

"The cadre's only motto should be only to make Advani the prime minister and they should dedicate themselves wholeheartedly to this.

Vajpayee also told Rajnath Singh that the "organisation should be the final word," Prasad told reporters.

Vajpayee expressed regrets for not being able to attend the three-day meeting because of health reasons.

The former prime minister recalled that during the emergecy he had been imprisoned along with Advani in the Bangalore central jail.

Prasad said Advani, the BJP's prime ministerial candidate, would undertake 'Vijay Sankalp Yatra' in different parts of India and the programme would be announced soon.
