Terming the defection of four Samajwadi Party Members of Legislative Assembly as 'betrayal' on the part of the Congress, party general secretary Amar Singh has said that the party has broken his heart.

"Congress party has betrayed us by engineering the defection of four MLAs of our party. They have not only broken my party, but also my heart," Singh said while addressing a tribal convention ahead of assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh.

"We wanted to fight against communal forces with the Congress, but now no alliance will be forged with it and the SP will field its candidates on its own in all the 230 seats in MP," Singh said.

However, he said that he is a 'Kshatriya' and will abide by the commitment his party has given to Congress president Sonia Gandhi to cooperate with her party in Uttar Pradesh.

Amar Singh to act?

"We don't have any complaint with Sonia or Rahul, but leaders of Madhya Pradesh roaming around them have cheated us," Singh said while referring to the defection.

Attacking the Bharatiya Janata Party for its failure to fulfill promises, he said that the state Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is a 'champion of announcements' as he had made announcements worth Rs 40,000 crore in the state against the total budget of Rs 21,000 crore of the state.

The party has came to power in the state on the issue of power, roads and water, but failed to fulfill its promises on these fronts, Singh alleged.

Singh said that the SP will play a crucial role in the formation of a new government in the state.
