Alert: IIT-JEE exam on April 11, 2010

What: Applications are invited for IIT Joint Entrance Examination 2010 for admission to undergraduate programmes at Indian Institutes of Technologies located at Bhubaneswar, Bombay (Mumbai), Delhi, Gandhinagar, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras (Chennai), Mandi, Patna, Punjab, Rajasthan and Roorkee.
The IIT JEE score is also used for shortlisting candidates for UG programmes at Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi and Indian School of Mines University, Dhanbad.

Date of examination: April 11, 2010

Paper-I: 9 am to 12 noon
Paper-II: 2 pm to 5 pm

Eligibility
Candidates must meet ALL the following conditions:

~ Date of birth: Candidate belonging to GE, OBC and DS categories must be born on or after October 01, 1985 and those belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must be born on or after October 01, 1980

~ Year of passing qualifying examination (QE): Candidates must have passed the qualifying examination, namely, XII standard or any equivalent examination, after 1st October 2008 or in the year 2009 or will be appearing in 2010.

~ Minimum percentage of marks in QE: candidates belonging to GE, OBC and DS categories must secure at least 60% marks and candidates belonging to SC, ST and PD categories must secure at least 55% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination

Important notes

(i) You can attempt JEE only twice, in consecutive years. That means you should have attempted JEE for the first time in 2009 or will be appearing in 2010

(ii) If you have accepted admission after qualifying in JEE in earlier years by paying full fees at any of the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi or ISM, Dhanbad, you will not be eligible to write JEE at all, irrespective of whether or not you joined in any of the programmes

How to apply

~ Candidates can apply online by logging into the IIT-JEE Web site. The examination fee is Rs 900 for GE/OBC/DS candidates and Rs 450 for SC/ST/PD and female candidates. Candidates can make payment online or through challans of designated banks.

~ Application form and information brochure can also be obtained from any of the designated bank branches between November 16 and December 15, 2009. The cost of application material including the examination fee is Rs 1,000 for GE/OBC/DS candidates and Rs 500 for Female/SC/ST/PD candidates.
