As the countdown for Durga Puja begins, festive fever has gripped West Bengal, with locals thronging the market, especially Kolkata, in large numbers.

In West Bengal, this much awaited festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm and gaiety. Speaking to a reporter, a local said that she has come for shopping new dresses and accessories for this festive season.

The state that is soaked in the puja fervour, is all set to welcome Maa Durga on October 20.

The Hindu trinity of Brahma, Shiva and Vishnu created Goddess Durga, the most powerful of all gods and goddesses, to vanquish the demons, hence the term 'Durga Puja' which means worshipping the Goddess.
