It is that time of the year when People magazine looks back at the year gone by and releases its annual list of best-dressed women.

So without further ado, meet the ladies who are making heads turn for all the right reasons.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift

Leading the list of the Best Dressed Star of the Year is singer Taylor Swift who, the magazine noted, was 'nailing every off-duty and red carpet look'. We could not agree more!

Blake Lively

Blake Lively

What makes Blake Lively's appearance in this list so important that she does not use a stylist. Yep! This A-lister picks out all the outfits herself!

Apparently after watching them on Style.com, she calls in a rack of fresh-off-the-runway designs and picks and chooses from those.

Makes it sound so simple eh?

If only it was… :-)

Diane Kruger

Diane Kruger

Model-turned-actress Diane Kruger is yet another star who does her own styling.

Unlike Blake Lively, Kruger simply calls in her designer friends and requests for specific looks.

And when she is unsure, Kruger tells People magazine, she simply asks her boyfriend Joshua Jackson to take a pick!

Jennifer Lopez

The oldest star in the list is here for a good reason.

Singer-actress Jennifer Lopez a body built for sin and she shows it off in a super-stylish, non-skanky way.

Emma Stone

The Spider-Man star, Emma Stone was voted to be on the list for her wow-inducing dresses that have been making news for all the right reasons.

Lupita Nyong'o

Lupita Nyong'o

Lupita Nyong'o is this year's Jennifer Lawrence (not that it has made us love JLaw any less). Only earlier this year, People named the stunning 12 Years a Slave star the most beautiful woman of 2014.

And going by all her red carpet appearances (and there have been many in this last one year), it was not surprising to see her name in the list.

As the good folks at People so rightly point out: 'There's no colour she can't wear, no silhouette that doesn't flatter her and no red carpet she hasn't conquered.'

Rihanna

Rihanna

After her CFDA appearance in THAT Adam Selman gown, it would have been shocking to have not seen Rihanna's name in this list.

The sensational outfit may have its share of critics but it has earned the popstar a permanent spot in red carpet fashion history.

And just for that it makes perfect sense to name Rihanna among the best-dressed. Don't you agree?

Emma Watson

The little Hermione Granger has grown up into a stylish young lady. And we do not see why that must not be celebrated. Do you?

Chloe Grace Moretz

Chloe Grace Moretz

Yet another child star who is blossoming into a fine (not to mention oh-my-god-she's-so-stylish) young lady is the Hugo star Chloe Grace Moretz.

Considering she has managed to do that with on a budget that is controlled by her mother is a feat, don't you think?

Kiernan Shipka

Kiernan Shipka

Kiernan Shipka is a familiar face if you watch the American drama Mad Men.

And while she may still be only 14, Shipka seems to have taken cue from her senior stars who she seems to spend considerable time with.

Does she impress you? She sure does impress us! :-)
