Amit Bansal: Mr Roy -- higher education in the right area from the right university/college will always improve your prospects.
It will also give you the opportunity to correct/accelerate your career trajectory.

Akkiraju Harshavardhan: Sir, what is the best PG course for a Mechanical Engineering graduate today?
Amit Bansal: Few options that come to mind - Design Engineering, Automation Engineering, Automotive Embedded Systems, Systems Engineering.
Among these options - most have been around for a while. Automotive Embedded Systems is probably the new age tech that's getting a lot of attention recently.
The IITs have a PG program in AES and so do a very few private universities like Dayanand Sagar University.
As I said in one of my replies before - if an engine is the heart of a car the ECU is its brain.
And a whole new industry is thriving towards making the car smarter, more efficient, and safer.
SANJIV KALIA: Good day Mr Bansal...My son is in XI - non medical and preparing for JEE in 2017.
He is not aware of the upcoming fields after XII and thus he is not very much clear about how to choose the best prospective field in his future after JEE.
I don't have knowledge about engineering and thus seeking your help, hope your advice will help me and to him for proceeding further..
Amit Bansal: I could probably give you a few things to consider -- area of interest (what your son finds most interesting), university -- its faculty, facilities, who comes to campus, etc., the reputation/prospects of a course at a particular university and college.
sanjeev-sharma: Sir I have done btech from ME and working in marketing dept in automobile sector what will be the best course to have upliftment of my career.
Amit Bansal: Mr. Sharma - if you want to get back towards the product side of things then you might want to consider an MTech in Automotive Embedded Systems. As you know most cars are now heavily automated.

Amit Bansal: For Big Data - Most tier 1 schools like IITs and BITS Pillani have post graduate programmes with a specialisation.
Some of the new private universities like VIT Vellore, SRM University, Dayanand Sagar University in Bangalore are offering post graduate programs in new age technologies like Big Data, Cloud Computing, and IoT.

These are some of technologies that will shape how our world looks in the near future.
Companies are making huge investments in these areas and large number of skilled resources with formal training and practical experience will be required.

Amit Bansal: Most definitely! We are observing a trend towards convergence of hardware and software to create great products in the market.
Internet of Things is a great example -- large multi-million dollar investments are being made in this space.
A large number of graduates with an in-depth understanding of ECE will be required to realise the growth projections.
AUGD: Let me know the institutes in India giving more emphasis on research and guidance in research in the field of new emerging technologies, is there any foreign institute operating in India or in singapore. what is the appx cost involved?
Amit Bansal: Most tier 1 schools like IITs and BITS Pillani have post graduate courses focused on R&D.
Some of the new private universities like VIT Vellore, SRM University, Dayanand Sagar University in Bangalore are offering post graduate programs in new age technologies like Big Data, Cloud Computing, and Information Security.
If your objective is to join the industry after these programmes -- I would recommend you to pick programmes that have a balance of research and application.
INDIRA RAJAGOPAL: Sir, I have scored 93.4 per cent in Xth CBSE, XIth Std. 88 per cent, BTech. 80 per cent, GRE 318 and Tofel 112. Can I get scholarship to do MS in MIS in US. Is there any chances of scholarships?
Amit Bansal: Thanks for the question. Your test scores and grades look good.
The US universities consider these for scholarships but they also look at other inputs like your prior experience, alignment to their research goals, etc.
You should try to get in touch with a few professors from schools that interest you.
They will guide you further on how to go about the admissions process and funding.

You should probably look at a few areas that are market relevant right now -- cloud computing, big data, internet of things are going big.
