After reading all the ATM woes that our readers experienced, I suddenly remembered a good experience I had at an HDFC ATM in Borivali (West).
I was there to withdraw money.
I was travelling that day and had a train to catch, so I was in a mad hurry.
I rushed into the ATM with my backpack on my back, put my debit card in and pressed a few keys.
The transaction was successful.
And as soon as I received the money, I pressed 'EXIT' and left the ATM in a hurry.
Little did I realise that I had mistakenly left my debit card behind in the machine.
As soon as I stepped out of the ATM, I ran across the road and tried to hail an autorickshaw.
The minute the auto arrived and I stepped in, I noticed the ATM security guard running towards me.
He had my debit card in his hand. Gasping for breath, he ran up to me and said, "Madam jaldi mein aap apna card ATM mein bhool gayi."
I really didn't know how to react.
I was ashamed of being so careless, but at the same time relieved that my card was not misused or stolen.
I profusely thanked the security guard and gratefully accepted the fact that there are plenty of 'good souls' out there too!
