CBSE class 12 results: Hansika, Garima top exam

This year too, girls outshone boys in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 examinations announced Thursday.

Two girls -- Hansika Shukla from Ghaziabad and Karishma Arora from Muzaffarnagar -- have scored 499 out of 500 marks to top the exam.

Three girls -- Rishikesh's Gaurangi Chawala, Raebareli's Aishwarya and Bhavya from Jind -- bagged the second rank, scoring 498 out of 500 marks.

There are 18 students who share the third position with 497 marks each. Out of these 18, 11 are girls.

"Girls have a pass percentage of 88.70 which is 9 percentage points more than that of boys' 79.40 per cent. Transgenders have a pass percentage of 83.3 per cent," a senior board officials said.

The overall pass percentage is 83.4, compared to last year’s 83.01.

Out of the 12.05 lakh students who appeared for the exam this year, as many as 17,693 students scored above 95 per cent and 94,299 students have scored between 90 to 95 per cent.

Kendriya Vidyalayas recorded a passing percentage of 98.54 per cent followed by Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas with 96.62 pass percentage.

Meanwhile, the government aided schools recorded a pass percentage of 88.49 per cent with government schools showing 87.17 per cent.

The pass percentage of private schools is 82.59 per cent.

The board's Thiruvananthapuram region has the highest pass percentage at 98.20 followed by Chennai at 92.93 per cent and Delhi at 91.87 per cent.
