We'd asked you, dear readers, to tell us what your first salary was and what it meant to you at the time.
Rediff reader Shajan Samuel from Bengaluru shared his story.

Shajan Samuel

In the 1990s, due to tough circumstances at home, I used to work and study.

At the time, my father didn’t have a great job.

My first salary was a paltry Rs 1,500 in 1995.

I bought music tapes for myself and took my family out for lunch.

I utilised the rest of the money to fund my education at St Xavier's College, Kolkata.

Do you have a photograph of it?

What did it mean to you at the time?

Tell us all about it.

What was your first job and salary? And how did you spend it?

Did you buy a sari for your mum or a gift for your girl/boyfriend?
