'India needs a good leader with a vision for the future'

Message:So far, India has been tortured, humiliated, and neglected not by any one else, but by its own leaders. In order to make it to a better spot, the first and foremost thing would be take a strong check on the population, which when controlled or brought down, would help in every aspect. If we succeed in doing so, we would come up so well, that I dont see anyone close to India in the next 50 years, going by the quality of people it produces.

Message:There is nothing for our nation to be proud of.
Whatever nation-building we pride ourselves on is the work of a few visionaries, more so a petty handful that has actually done its job.
What we are actually left with now are the spinless types of Ashok Singhal who have all the courage to oppose free speech when it comes to things that are of no direct influence to vote banks, in all other senses, we have reduced Hinduism to standing behind a pathetic farce of cowardly nationalism.
How come these beggars aren't shouting slogans about a uniform civil code anymore. Where are these frontrunners of our national pride when it comes to issues of population control, when it is clouded by religious freedom? Where is one speck of accountability of the Indian bureaucrat?
Who cares? When someone like Mulayam SIngh can sit atop "secular" votes, calling himself a friend of the Muslims, inasmuch pandering to every sectarian claim that can be staked, and where is Vajpayee, our new upholder of the Indian nation? Grinning for cameras at Mulayam's progeny's wedding...
Pakistan has done itself a great favour in turning to military dictatorship. I begin to think we need one too...
India is a democracy, and the biggest abuser of a democracy. India has never had law and order, accountability or a common shade of decency in the people who rule its unfortunate billion.

Message:First and foremost, there must be a policy so that everybody gets social security
from the government in the same way as is done in the west.A part of the salary is
deducted to provide benefits after retirement. This should be done to every earning
member be it in the private/government agencies.Only then will people feel secure to
spend money to help the economy to move since they will be sure to have a comfortable
life later in their retirement age.
This will also eradicate reservation etc since everybody is sure to get benefits at
the end of their term.
Everybody must be made to work in a government organisation for at short period
so that he/she too knows what are the rules/regulations and can question/be questioned
by another person since he too would have worked in the government one day or the other
This will completely remove the quota system and nobody can take anyone for
a ride since everybody is aware of the rules.
The above points are just ideas but could be more refined so that it can be implemented properly.

Message:We are a nation brainwashed
to live in the glory of the past.
What about the present and the future?
We have unsuccesfully experimented with a socialist
model in the past.
While Privitisation is no guarantee for
a healthy tommorow, it has proved to be
far more succesful in increasing productivity
and creation of wealth.
The Infrastructure sectors made to rot
under the past policies have to undergo
a sea change.
We can easily adopt succesful
models of implementation from
other countries.
Privitisation in areas like telecom,
power,energy,transport,ports etc
will see an improved climate.
Subsidies should be out. These
schemes are taken for granted and often
misused.
If we can create a good environment
in IT, why not in other sectors.
The 'feel good factor' itself motivates
people to implement ideas that can
be materialised into packaged products.
Let us all work (not pray) for
an India which is in the forefront
of all technology areas.
We should strive to be a knowledge based
economy.
Its high time we give our share of
inputs to the world economy.
Best Wishes

There is only one option left for the People of India

a)education will be made compulsory - to teach and learn. govt. will have the mechanism to put it place.
b)franchise is revamped with only the educated getting the right to vote. parallelly make the villages educated too.
c)strictest norms for electoral candidates. criminals must be first put in jail and then choose from the rest. with them around nothing good can take place.
d)protect the girl child all over india and make any ill treatment punishable with huge publicity and humiliation.
e)Make it compulsory for every person who earns beyond the second level of taxation contribute 5% of his annual income for the poor.
I am sure the rest have the rest of what i have to say.

Message:Since independence, India has achieved a great deal of progress in some areas and yes, we are proud of those. But these achievements have always been accidental and were never strategically planned(either short-term or long-term)and implemented (for e.g. self-sufficiency in food). And if India is in today's situation where internally it is facing a Population, Corruption, Unemployment, Aids explosion (the reasons for most of our problems) and externally, struggling to save its' face in every case/issue (except to harp on the fact that we are the largest democracy of the world); it is because the successive governments of India for 50 years completely ignored the most basic and important question of Education and Health. We have every resource at our disposal (ours is not a poor country)including the necessary laws, but if the people are not educated enough to fight for their rights and the corrupt politicians/governments, another 50 years from now, we will be where we are today or in a worse situation.

We have achieved hatred... for people who live beyond poverty line.. and who are under- priviledged.. Certainly Sir!
We have achieved Love For Music... Let the world.. and India.. above all go to hell!
And finally this best achivement ever... "I CARE A DAMN"!!!

Message:India has achieved a lot in 50 years but could have achieved
a lot more if things were systematic.
These are some of the things India can do to improve:
1. Kids in Government schools should be treated with respect
and taught to study properly. Afterall they do not have
educated parents guidance. Teachers should be evaluated
every 6 months and based on that they can be promoted
or dismissed. Kids are the future.
2. There should be a common law for all people. No seperate
for different religions. Why should the government be ruled
by religion. Democracy and equal laws should rule all people.
3. All citizens who make money should be taxed. Agriculrists
should be taxed if their income is above the taxable income limit.
Free electricity should be abolished.
4. Curruption should be nipped at the stem. There should be TV
programs which show the different and common forms of corruption
which everyone does and so it does not seem like corrution. If caught
what punishments they can expect. Corrupt officials and citizens should
be dealt with very harshly and should be openly shown on TV etc.
All Politicians and Income tax officials should release their net worth
at the time of joining and should be evaluated every 5 years to see if
there is an inordinate increase.
5. People should be made to feel more resposible for their surroundings
and other poor people. Peoples inhibitions on adoption should change and
it must be made more acceptable again through TV programs.
6. The film stars with their sway on the masses should put their fame to
good causes like speaking for adoption, against corruption and involving
themselves in charity and public service. Because of their fame other
people will emulate these stars.
7. Capital punishments like death by electric chair or lethal injections
should be put to use to get rid of terrorists. Tax payer money should not
support terrorists food and stay in jails.
8. TV programs should continuously show the positive aspects of India. Indian
discoveries, Inventions and success stories should be played out so that Indians
can feel proud to be an Indian.
9. Politicians who are tried for corrution should not be allowed to run for public
office. Why should we let a guilty thief be incharge of our money.
10. People who convert and still use the SC/ST quota or who illegally acquire
and use such certificates should be prosecuted. All government offices, colleges,
schools should have places where people can anonymously report such people and
immediate action should be taken to punish these cheaters.
11. Hinduism is the greatest religion and people should be proud to be Hindus.
Yoga and meditation should be taught in schools. The Christianization of India
should stop. Again more TV programs should be made to show the ways and tricks
that they resort to convert a person.
These are all my suggestions from the things that I have come accross in my
28 years life.

Message:India has been on a very rapid
decline. It is not respected in
the world, its GDP/GNP are shameful,
its R&D base is laughable as are
several of its policies.
1947 was a good start. That has been
squandered away. History shows us that
we've been a slave country for
a major portion of our existence. That
means that we can't govern ourselves.
The majority of the people in india are
sheep. Such a fine form of democracy is not
for a country until more than 90% of its population
is educated. Educated about the lack of
leadership that has impoverished the
nation except for a flash in the pan here
and there.
In my view the following measures may help:
(1) Liberalize labour laws. Allow enterprises to
hire and fire at will. Remember, this is one of
the factors that makes the USA such a power.
(2) Every corporation must generate its revenue and
only then spend it. As it may wish!
(3) Provide tax benefit for all donations to research
facilities.
(4) Pay university teaching professionals for 9 months
in a year. Allow them to seek projects from the
outside and funds to implement these projects. This
will boost R&D overnight.
(5) Make law and order effective and universal. If a crime
is committed, punish the wrong doers quickly. The judicial
process must be faster.
(6) Remove the reservation system everywhere. Let merit emerge
from the ashes of a burnt India. Provide visionary policies
whereby corporations can setup/fund institutes that can provide
coaching facilities to the lower income groups. Provide extra
benefits to institutes operating in mufsil/rural
areas.
(7) Reduce income tax. Increase tax on sales.
(8) Assign a number to every Indian.
(9) Provide basic facilities such as clean water
and good quality air to breathe to all citizens. Believe me these commodities
are in short supply!
(10) Enact policies and laws that allow free enterprose to
flourish. Encourage innovation. Guard against malpractices
and duping customers. Set a strict precedent.
(11) Increase defence spending. Most people around the world
know that India has been barking but can't bite. Statements
such as "..India warns Pakistan of cross border terrorism..."
are sick and routine. If India knows, destroy the camps. Let
its diplomats explain to the world. It is a weak state. Today.
Unfortunately.
Poverty can't be eradicated by providing sops. Let citizens work for
even the slightest little benefit. The concept of work and reward is
mostly missing in its ever sick public enterprise. Introduce computerization
in a big way in government. It'll help in better management of the country.
During the Emergency, the common man was happy with punctual trains, efficient
police, rationing etc. It means that India will be better with firm and effective
policies.
Give Indians a chance to be Indians by mingling into the main stream. The present
policies are dividing them further.

Message:
The West has lost the truth. We have lost the Great Sense, the meaning of our
evolution, of why so much suffering, why dying, why getting born, why this earth,
who are we, what is the soul, what is reincarnation, where is the ultimate truth about
the universe... But India has kept this truth. India has preserved it through seven
millennium of pitfalls, of genocides and attempts at throttling her Sanatan Dharma.
And this will be India's gift to this planet during the next century: to restore to the
world its true sense. to recharge humanity with the real meaning and spirit of life.
India will become the spiritual leader of the world, as India's Great Sage, Sri
Aurobindo, had predicted nearly a century ago : "It is this religion that I am
raising-up before the world, it is this that I have perfected and developed through
the Rishis, saints, and Avatars, and now it is going forth to do my work among the
nations. I am raising forth this nation to send forth my word...When therefore it is
said that India shall rise, it is the Sanatan Dharma that shall rise, it is the Sanatan
Dharma that shall be great. When it is said that India shall expand and extend
herself, it is the Sanatan Dharma that shall expand and extend itself over the world.
It is for the Dharma and by the Dharma that India exists". (India's Rebirth. p. 46
-Uttara speech)
And one is tempted to shout in the ears of all those "secular", cynical, westernised,
Indians of today, the eternal mantra: "Rise up, O India of the Vedic ages. Thou livest
in the hearts of all thy people. Rise up O Westernised "secular" India, because thou
art also the true India. Realise in your hearts the genius of the country which is yours.
Stop comparing it to a civilisation, which is crumbling and cease equating it with
parameters that are not hers. Wake up to the greatness of thy country. Not only the
past greatness, which thou seekest to repossess in its music or in its temples, but the
greatness that IS, there, waiting to be grasped again, waiting to be brought down
concretely. Rise up O India, to the greatness that IS in you. Rise up O true India".
Ah, we are coming back again full circle to the wonder that WAS India, the India of
the Vedas and the Upanishad, which A.L. Basham, the best-selling author of "The
Wonder That Was India", criticised as being militant and politically disunited. But the
truth was that they were united in their diversity, that it was much more democratic
and allowed much more freeplay and freedom, individually and collectively, than the
India of today allows. Let us again reread history, let us look at India, not through
the Western prism, but with the ancient wisdom that She has bestowed upon us.
For indeed, this is one of the most amazing paradoxes of today's world: here you
have a country, India, which rates today as one of the poorest on this planet, which
is disregarded by most Western nations (and many of its own people), as irrelevant,
backward, too bureaucratic - and lately, as a hotbed of Hindu fundamentalism. Yet,
India holds the key to the world's future. For India is the only nation which still
preserves in the darkness of Her Himalayan caves, on the luminous ghats of
Benares, in the hearts of her countless yogis, or even in the minds of her ordinary
folk, the key to the planetary evolution, its future and its hope. This knowledge
which once roamed the shores of the world from Egypt to China, is today lost
everywhere. Europe has now entered a turbulent Age; it will take a long time before
it unites in spite of the near uniformity of its races and religions. The West, in its thirst
for materialism, does not know anymore where it stands and has lost this precious
knowledge, which India still holds, alone in the world.
The 21st century then, will be the era of the East; this is where the sun is going to
rise again, after centuries of decadence and submission to Western colonialism; this
is where the focus of the world is going to shift. And as when India used to shine
and send forth Her Dharma all over the Orient: Japan, Thailand, China, Burma, or
Cambodia and influence their civilisations and religions for centuries to come, once
more She will emit Her light and radiate, Queen among nations: "India of the ages is
not dead nor has She spoken Her last creative word; She lives and has still
something to do for Herself and the human peoples. And that which She must seek
now to awake, is not an anglicised oriental people, docile pupil of the West and
doomed to repeat the cycle of the Occident's success and failure, but still the ancient
immemorial Shakti recovering Her deepest self, lifting Her head higher towards the
supreme source of light and strength and turning to discover the complete meaning
and vaster form of Her Dharma." (Sri Aurobindo).
But for that India has to succeed in her attempt to liberalise her economy, it has to
learn to decentralise the heavy hand of its Government in Delhi, it has to rewrite its
Constitution, which it adapted blindly from the British, it has to re-indianise her
education methods, reform her political system, which has made a mockery of
democracy… In one word, She has to become a superpower on par with any
European nation. Then, when it will have the respect and the attention of the West,
can Her message of spirituality and the ancient wisdom of Sanatan Dharma, once
again shine forth and bring down a New World to this beleaguered planet, which is
on the bring of self-destruction.

Message:the one thing that holds India back is the lack of a quality comprehensive education that is free and compulsory to A-Level standard (university entrance). A mass educated population would be substantially more demanding of our politicians and most unlikely to entertain the excesses of our current shower of crooks masquerading as politicians. Just look at the educated middle classes and the Indians living abroad; so why shouldn't all Indians benefit? I am a cynic and believe that this would not be in the interests of our politicians...after all they are mere politicians not statesmen! An educated populace would also reduce the birthrate and, perhaps, bring sporting glory to India.
