Catwalk action from Pakistan Fashion Week

Here's a glimpse of what was on offer at the recently concluded Pakistan Fashion Week, held at Karachi's luxury Marriott hotel from November 4-7 this year.

The event openly defied the Taliban's strict adherance to veils and had to be rescheduled twice in the past month due to security issues. But ultimately more than 30 Pakistani designers participated and everything ran smoothly, so here's a look at the on-ramp action.

First up is model Rubya in this gorgeous strapless evening gown, designed by the Asian Institute of Fashion Design.

Feathered frolic

With feathers in her hair and wearing a sequinned corset and matching neckscarf, a model takes to the catwalk in a creation by Pakistani designer Zahid Khan, of label Kuki Concepts.

Sallu-style

Designer Tayyab Bombal sends out a bespectacled hunk wearing only a pair of black pants and showing off his chest, Sallu-style!

Let it flow

Next up is a swirling wrap dress with thigh-high slit, by designer Feeha Noor Jamshed's label Teejays.

Mosaic musing

Short, abstract and colourful -- model Fayezah Ansari takes to the runway in a design by Deepak Perwani of D Philosophy.

Statement piece

A simple black drape and shawl from Teejays are set off by a statement neckpiece, worn by model Mehreen Sayed.

Metrosexual mood

Pakistani designer Syed Rizwanullah, wearing a creation by compatriot Yasir Mirza cops an attitude in overstated harem pants, set off by glares -- very metrosexual!

White reverie

Soft, white and sensual, model Iraj dramatises an ensemble by top designer Rizwan Beyg.

Ochre overture

Seen here is a flowing, layered number seemingly inspired by autumn leaves, from the Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design.

Twirling siren

And finally, here is model Fayezah Ansari once more, this time in a design by Pakistani duo Ather Hafeez and Sabeen Ali.
