It was a weekend of revelry and celebrations as the first ever BeYu Fashion Awards to honour Indian designers was held on November 14-15 in Bangalore. Sponsored by Elder Health Care, the awardees this year were veterans Krishna Mehta and Neeta Lulla, who showcased their work alongside many young and upcoming names.
All the fashion shows at the event stuck to one of two themes -- Disco Stars and the New Year Look. We start off with a glimpse of Sanchita's new line. This young designer has worked with big names like Roberto Cavalli and Etro and showcased a beachwear line at the awards. So if you're heading to the beaches of Goa, you know who to call!
One of the youngest designers to show over the weekend, Tahera, we are told, is talked about quite a bit down in Sri Lanka, where she was part of this year's Colombo Fashion Week. She evidently loves black as much as she loves polo necks!
One of the two ladies of the hour, the petite Krishna Mehta showed her line of eveningwear that was colourful and eclectic. She received the BeYu Fashion Award 2009 for 'outstanding contribution to Indian fashion'.
The other recepient of the award, Neeta Lulla put on a dazzling display of saris. Seen here is model Nethra Raghuraman in one of her creations.
Raj Shroff, one of the most promising designers in Bangalore chose to go with floral prints and black 'n' white. And no, we aren't really complaining.
Duo Jason and Anshu also recently showed at the Wills Lifetyle India Fashion week in Delhi. They presented one of their lines in Bangalore too, although we don't quite know what to make of this particular dress.
Bangalore-based Amanda Bachhalli's collection seemed like it spanned the entire spectrum, from evening dresses to beachwear. Here, a model walks in a sexy bikini top and sarong.
