Diwali is just round the corner and chances are you're already making plans to make the most of the holidays. To help you discover new holiday spots to relax and rejuvenate, we asked readers to send in their favourite vacation desitinations. Here we present two responses we received:

Getaway: Kashid Beach

Description: Super clean beaches, just 125 Kms from Mumbai

Sights: The silver sand beaches and Murud Fort

You should try para sailing on the beach (there are companies providing this). Also, the hotel has all-terrain bikes for beach drives.

Eats: Try the beach-side stalls. The food is pretty good at Kashid Beach Resort too.

Shopping: Not much to shop for, just lay back and relax.

How to get there: Drive till Panvel (from Mumbai) and get off the Pune Express way towards Alibaug. Drive till Alibaug and for a further 35 kms to reach Kashid. By road, there are from Dadar. By sea, you can catch a ferry to Alibaug and take a bus to Kashid.

Getaway: Wayanad

Sights: The natural scenic beauty of Wayanad and its rich natural resources offer several opportunities for adventure tourism.

The hills, rocks and valley which make the very unique character of Wayanad cater specifally to the ever-increasing demands of the adventure tourist.

You can enjoy a great shower at the Meenmutty Water Falls which is around 12 kms from Meppadi...just awesome!

Trekking equipment is available at the Tourist Information Centre, Kalpetta.

Shopping: Wayanad is a land of spices, coffee, black pepper, ginger, turmeric, cocoa, tea, rubber, vanilla etc are grown here and are exported too.
So if you are going to Wayanad, do not forget to ask Mum what to buy for her kitchen!

How to get there: Wayanad is 80 kms from the nearest town of Kozhikode (Calicut) which is the nearest railway station and 120 kms from Mysore.

The best way to travel to Wayanad though is by road to enjoy the scenic beauty.
