Couture Week: Diamonds and divas on the ramp

It was a curious case indeed. Maheep Kapoor, the sister-in-law of Sridevi, had no famous name from Bollywood as her showstopper for her showing on Day One of HDIL India Couture Week. Her not-so-famous husband Sanjay Kapoor did decide to join her on the ramp impromptu and take a bow for some reason. But we'd rather forget that part of the show.

A jewellery line, the pieces are priced anywhere between a crore and Rs 5.5 crore. Whoever said there was recession happening in India?

The collection was called Heirlooms and comprised pieces that Maheep says can be passed on in the family.

The most beautiful girl?

Anna Singh designed the clothes for this show and we must confess the dash of colour after the brooding blacks and greys were definitely a pleasure to the eye.

Visiting the wonderful Wizard of Oz?

The emeralds make a comeback. Though she sure doesn't seem keen on visiting the Emerald City. Besides, the ramp wasn't yellow.

Saying it with yellow

Somewhat predictably models walked the ramp to the tunes of 'The most beautiful girl in the world' that immortal song by Prince. But hey, isn't there some solace in predictability?

That's a compliment!

Anna's brown sure went beautifully with the ruby neckpiece by Maheep. The piece, like all the others, has been set in white gold.

Maheep describes her collection as fine, exquisite and timeless and something that ranges from the classical to the whimsical. Surely this one falls in the latter category.

And the big one!

The Royals and Diamonds Classic set sported by Diandra Soares here has been crafted in 18k white gold and was the final piece in Maheep's show. With 65 brilliant diamonds, this one is surely to make heads turn.

Nothing beats black

Even as she decked up all her ladies in stunning pieces, designer Maheep Kapoor chose to go almost all-bare except for a bracelet she sported in her right hand. On her left, she had her husband Sanjay Kapoor.
