Couture Week: Sridevi takes to the ramp

The sizzling star of the 90s has been showing all signs of returning to the marquee with her sustained presence at various fashion weeks. Interestingly, on Day One of the HDIL India Couture Week, Sridevi did not walk for her sister-in-law Maheep Kapoor (who was also showing her jewellery line) but chose instead the designer who was showing immediately after her!

In fact Boney Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor were sitting in opposite rows. Anyway, back to the action on the ramp:

Whoever said fat wasn't p.h.a.t. should've seen Sridevi walk the ramp for Queenie Dhody. She was supposedly sporting a neckpiece we were to admire. But boy we completely missed that one!

And the bride wore black

There's nothing like an ethnic Indian headpiece and Queenie keeps it simple using pearls.

We may have just about liked Rakesh Agarwal's recent collection. But the designer sure had some interesting outfits that enhanced the beauty of Queenie's jewels.

Bo-ho chic

Clearly the jewellery designer hopes to address a larger market that includes the young and not-so-traditional ladies. The juxtaposing of the two neckpieces certainly has a message to convey.

And this is where it blends

The traditional and the modern, we mean. While the previous piece simply had one thrown over the other, this one seems to have incorporated both rather elegantly.

The sexy emerald set worn with a backless dress is one sure-shot recipe for weak knees! Toned back though, is a must.

Neck on the line

And while it may seem oh-so-traditional in its design, the emerald-studded neckpiece does require a so-not-traditional breathtakingly deep neckline.
