Mahendra Mohan, Taekwondo master and head instructor at the MJ Academy of Martial Arts, Mumbai, says the benefits of practicing Taekwondo are three-fold: physical, mental and spiritual.
As the head of Mumbai's first authentic Taekwondo dojo (near Mahalaxmi Temple), Mohan sees all kinds of students come through his doorway, including housewives looking to get fit and young kids trying out a new hobby.
Whether you're looking for a fitness routine, a form of self-defence or serious martial arts competition, Mohan says the first important technique to learn is the art of blocking.
Here, he demonstrates how to perform a high block, a medium block and a low block.
Apparently, Taekwondo is the next big thing for Bollywood stars; Mohan says he has taught several Bollywood stars, and their children too!
