Delhi-based designer Mandira Wirk presented her 'Symphonies of Style' collection on Saturday, Day 4 of Kolkata Fashion Week (KFW) II.
"The collection delineates nature -- chic with couture sensibility. The collection is what dreams are made of -- romantic, flirty, persuasive. The natural fibres and weaves take centre stage and the ancient fibres of cotton, linen and silk are given a modern twist to highlight their natural characteristics and create renewed and elegant looks," said Wirk after the show.
Wrapped in rapture
The collection enraptures with the eternal romanticism of graceful creations brought up to date by play on ivory and beige. The fabrics span from flowing satins, teamed with layers of matt and shiny jacquards, brocades, floaty jerseys and delicate silks which softly wrap the figure with an attractive metallic effect to highlight a sinuous silhouette.
Uber fashion
Eclectic scissoring -- geometric and bias and inserts with masses of zips are strong elements which contribute to fragment the poetic romanticism resulting in uber fashion elements," said the young designer.
Pleats and twists
Silhouettes are shapely, with asymmetrical draped knits; ombre pleated formations and twisted knit details. Draped and sheated saris, cowl drape gowns, kurtas, structured achkans, Jodhpurs teamed with trousers and embroidered skirts accentuate the collection.
Striking the balance
The desire for colour is expressed in sheer ivory, beige, gold, hyacinth coral and lilac, with multicolored highlights. The light retracts in a kaleidoscope of crystals which create a game of never-ending seduction. All characterised by a young and dynamic collection, easy to wear. A balance between timelessness and timeliness has been struck," said Wirk.
