Anand Kabra's Kumari: Sensual yet spiritual

Here's a look at Anand Kabra's showing on the LFW ramp -- in his own words, a sensual yet spiritual collection called Kumari. The designer, affected by the fact that history and society tend to worship only the public perception and spiritual side of historically significant women, sought to create a line inspired by both the spiritual and sensual sides of her nature.  Kumari seeks to bring out this dual disposition of goddesses, royalty and warriors with a collection that is both conservative and bold, flirtatious and austere.

Simple yet unusual, this softly undulating design was one of the first on the runway, its bold orange hues standing out against a pale, transparent background.

Sexy but subtle

Next up is a pair of sheer harem pants, teamed with an interesting berry-red shirt that is just long enough to preserve your modesty!

Jazzy jumpsuit

Jumpsuits are the hottest 'it' item this year, so it was only a matter of time before they made their foray onto the LFW runway. We like Kabra's grey, pleated, cross-detailed take on the season staple.

Pursuing the pale palette

Continuing with the grey theme, a simple jersey mini is teamed with an overcoat of the same length for effect.

Streak of sparkle

Model Binal Trivedi does her thing in a satiny ensemble accentuated by a sparkling streak of metallic glimmer.

Grecian overtones

Take the plunge in this soft ensemble with daring neckline and asymmetrical pattern.

Ravishing ruby red

A sizzling one-sided gown makes its presence felt on the runway -- and it would do the same on the red carpet, so ladies, take note!

Understated elegance

Go the simple but second-glance route in this lovely Kabra sari, with its orange red hue and midriff-baring choli.

Pale passion

Flowing ghagra skirts will never go out of style -- don't miss the light embellishments against the creamy backdrop.

Asymmetrical appeal

Binal sails out once more in an ensemble that celebrates rural festivity and royalty -- we love that undulating ruffled hemline.

Worthy of a goddess

And finally, the last in a long line of opulent fashion, the designer's showstopping vermilion sari, complete with an eye-catching neckpiece. It's worth noting that all the jewellery setting off the collection is exclusively created by Bunty Bajaj of Krsala Couture to match Kabra's sensibilities.
