Rediff.com caught up with designer Anita Dongre just minutes after the showing of her spectacular Timeless collection on Day One of the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai.
Still visibly excited at the show's success, Anita gave rediff.com the lowdown.
Tell us about your collection.
Timeless was inspired completely and entirely by Rajasthan, particularly Jaipur. It was my first attempt at occasioned Indian wear, and I'm thrilled with how the show went!
What fabrics did you use?
All handcrafted fabrics, mostly bandhni (a type of dying prevalent in Rajasthan and Gujarat). I also used some handwoven broquettes from Benaras.
What's in this season?
It's only the first day of Fashion Week! Honestly, I'm so busy that I haven't had a chance to see others' work yet.
What's your personal fashion style?
I have four brands, and they're the only thing I wear.
How is design as a career?
I'm blessed to have a passion as a profession.
Any advice for aspiring designers?
You must always work hard!
