Model Speak: 'When I want to be ugly, I dress ugly'

Sylvia, a beautiful blue-eyed model from Poland, has only been in India for a month. And it's her first trip to the subcontinent. But she's living in Bandra, Mumbai and already loving life in the South Asian megacity. When her 2.5 month contract ends in six weeks, she'll return home.

Marieta, from Slovakia, is a true veteran model: She's been doing it since the age of 14! She's been in Mumbai, India for 1.5 months, as part of a 3 month contract. And she loves it here, thanks to the spicy Indian food! If there's one problem in India, she admits, it's the fierce heat and humidity.

Rediff.com caught up with the foreign lookers, still sporting tikka on their foreheads from an earlier show, on Day One of the India Lakme Fashion Week.

What is your personal fashion style?

Sylvia: No high heels. I always wear flat shoes. For me, it's all about being comfortable.

Marieta: It depends on my mood. When I want to be ugly, I dress ugly. But when I want to be pretty, I dress pretty!

How do you stay in shape?

Sylvia: You are what you eat. So I try to avoid very unhealthy food. But I still eat chocolate sometimes. I can't help it. (Marieta: I guess that's why you're so sweet!)

Marieta: If you're soul is healthy, you're body is healthy. I try to remember this at all times.

How do you think India fashion compares to international fashion? And how do you like India?

Sylvia: In fashion terms, every where you go is different. I like India because the people are really nice. It first it was difficult adjusting, but now I'm enjoying myself!

Marieta: All over the world, fashion is different. Indian fashion is also unique. As for living here for three months, I like it very much. I love spicy food, so India is great for me.
