Reader pics: India's mesmerising beauty

We invited readers to send in their favourite travel pic -- that one photograph that perfectly captures the beauty of a place they visited. In response, readers have sent in wonderful photographs from all across India. Here we feature some of the refreshing photographs readers sent in of India's mesmerising locales:

First up, newly-married Siva Kumar shares pictures of Manali where he went for his honeymoon. He writes, "One morning I saw this wonderful sight of the Manali hills covered with snow, with sun rays falling on them. It was simply superb."

Reader Puneet visited Uttarakhand a few months ago and came back stunned... not just by the beauty of the place, but also its people. He shares with us this photograph.

Ashish Agrawal shares with us two pictures from his Goa trip. The picture alongside is that of Fort Aguada.

Ritesh Chaurasia shot this picture of the Mumbai skyline one evening from the Elephanta Islands.

Ritesh sends in another picture, this time of the serene Lonavala Lake taken from the Bhushi Dam.

Reader Ashok Sachdev shares with us this shot of Shalimar Baug in Kashmir.

Raghu Kamath from Bangalore took this photograph of the Bekal Fort in North Kerala at the peak of the monsoon season there and the sea at its 'furious best'.

Raghu emails us another photograph, shot during the monsoon in Madikeri in Karnataka. He writes, "I shot this photo during a beautiful ride through the foggy and dense Coorg forests on the way to the famous Bhagamandala temple, the source of the river Kaveri."

The unconquerable Murud-Janjira Fort in Maharashtra caught the fascination of reader Krishna Kumar who e-mailed us this pic.

Syed Asif Ali writes, "This was taken from the toy train from Kalka to Shimla. There are innumerable such sights during the journey."

Syed shares with us another picture from his Shimla trip. "This one is of the famous mall. Shimla is so famous that most of us must have been there at least once. There is hardly anything new to say about it except that it still retains the beautiful English old world charm that is missing in many other hill stations."
