Which famous faces made it to Vanity Fair's prestigious International Best-Dressed List for 2010?

This is the magazine's 71st annual round-up of the prestigious list and features the who's who from across the fields of entertainment, fashion, business and politics. And it didn't come without a fair share of surprises -- here are a few of the 53 famous faces that made the cut.

Lady Gaga

Thought we'd catch you unawares right away! After all, the eccentric popster was also named the 'Top fashion buzzword of 2010'.

But before you wonder about what the world's coming to with Gaga being best dressed, let us tell you that she was nominated to the 'Originals' category, not 'Best-dressed Women' list. And you have to admit, her style is 100 percent original -- never seen anything like it!

The strapping British footballer is probably the envy of wife Posh Spice, because despite her status as an iconic fashionista, she didn't make it to the list. And he did, in the 'Hall of Fame' category, to boot!

The current First Lady of France is probably the most stylish they've ever had and with good reason -- she's an ex-model. Mrs Sarkozy also featured on Vanity Fair's list last year.

Penelope Cruz's newly minted hubby seems to have edged her out in the fashion department, because she featured in 2009 but this time around, it's only him. Maybe the easy-on-the-eyes actor is taking his cues from the missus!

Blonde beauty Diane was one of the few actresses to make it to in the 'Best-dressed Women' category -- and it's easy to see why. She's always impeccably well turned out.

The New York-based jewellery designer/actor was the only Indian-origin candidate to be bestowed with the best-dressed honour for men.

The wife of British PM David Cameron looks like she's not going to be outdone by US counterpart Michelle Obama (who was nominated too) -- even though she's pregnant! Think she'll manage to hold onto it in 2011?

The actor's dress sense made it back to the good graces of the magazine after over two decades, so you know they take it very seriously!

One of the youngest candidates, 25-year-old Carey of Pride and Prejudice fame certainly knows how to have the flashbulbs going into overdrive -- and in a good way.

Maggie and Jake made it together to the 'Best-dressed Siblings' category. While she's boho-chic, he's as much at ease in a well-cut suit as he is in jeans and a tee.

Another celeb who made it to the 'Originals' section was Galliano, who is currently chief fashion designer at the House of Dior in addition to his own label. His clients include the likes of Kylie Minogue and Gwen Stefani.

The Dutch royal certainly plays the part of princess when it comes to her wardrobe -- you can be sure that she'll make a classy statement on any red carpet.

American musician-producer Williams is another surprise entry -- it's not often that male rap stars, known for their trademark love of bling, makes it to 'best-dressed'!

The glossy ditched the US President post his debut in 2009, but Mrs Obama has stayed on into 2010. With her impeccable taste, looks like she'll be here next year too, giving Carla Bruni-Sarkozy stiff competition!

He may work behind the cameras, but when Hollywood heavyweight director Scorsese decides to step in front of them he always does it with style!

The British actress is having the last laugh. After being constantly criticised for her bold sense of fashion on the red carpet, it looks like she rates where it matters the most -- when it comes to originality. Like Gaga, she made it in this category.

The easy-on-the-eyes hotelier hit the headlines when he started dating (now ex-girlfriend) actress Uma Thurman. And who wouldn't fall for the tanned, handsome and impeccably dressed combo -- he seems to have it all going for him.

How about that? Another of Uma Thurman's beaus, financier Arpad (also known as Arki) made it to Vanity Fair's list for the second year running. Wonder when she'll feature in here herself, though?

And finally, in the 'Best-dressed Couples' category we have the former supermodel and her writer-director husband. Quite the smashing pair, we have to say!
