Unusual monsoon pics: Baiting in the river

First up is this one of a fisherman casting for his daily catch from Kranthi Kiran, who credits K Sreenivas and Nisha Sridhar for the image. "This was taken during a trip to Dudhsagar Waterfalls in Goa by the Hyderabad Adventure Club," he says.

"I captured this on my recent Kerala visit in the first week of June, when the monsoon just started in the beautiful coastal state," explains Shahab Shakeel. "It's a church on a misty evening in Thekkedey."

And finally, we have this picture from Mahesh Rajamani of Kolathur, Chennai. "It was taken when heavy rains slashed Chennai," he says. "At that time our area was fully surrounded with flood water. The little girl in the picture -- Pooja -- is from my neighbourhood and was curiously contemplating the water."
