Exhibit

The Android OS from Google Inc is fast gaining popularity over other platforms like the Apple's iOS4, Nokia's Symbian, Microsoft's Windows and Samsung's Bada.

As more developers get weaned away to the Android platform because of the versatility it offers, Exhibit presents five fun must-have Android games for you for the year.

Uniwar

Uniwar is a turn-based strategy game with multiplayer online gameplay for up to eight players as well as a single-player campaign mode. The player's goal in each level is to capture all of his opponent's bases. For each base the player controls, he earns additional credits which can be spent constructing units such as tanks and helicopters.

The game consists of 21 single-player levels and three armies: Sapiens (humans), Titans (machines), and Khralians (aliens). Each army, or race, includes eight unit types, and each unit type has different degrees of mobility, attack strength, and defense.

Special units such as the Sapien Engineer cannot attack or defend but have unique advantages such as the ability to re-programme enemy units, effectively converting them to Sapiens units.

Attack is the best form of defence in the game, but in order to succeed at Uniwar players must employ strategies in order to use their limited resources effectively.

Wi-Fi Army

Wi-Fi Army is a first-person shooter game that sees players meeting on the streets in a kind of Laser Tag meets Assassin scenario. Players use their mobile phone cameras to shoot each other earning points with the highest number of 'unique kills'. Players also have the ability to form armies of up to 100 soldiers.

This shooter game involves the three technologies -- GPS, Google Maps and camera phone. Instead of using video graphics, you can engage real people in a (gun) phone fight. The camera phone functions as your scope to hunt other players.

The GPS is used to locate other players within 300-feet radius. Once another player is detected within the range, you will be notified about this newfound enemy. Google Maps provides support to find other players. Sounds cool, right!

Currently this game allows only 500 people to play per city. The icing on the cake is that this game is free!

Nesoid NES Emulator

Nesoid is filled with features and options and can run just about any NES ROMs that you would load it with. It is good to know that it's possible to play those classic Nintendo NES games on any Android device with physical keyboard (Motorola Backflip, Droid, LG GW620, etc).

Thanks to the processing power of these latest mobile phones and the lesser restrictions (compared to Apple App Store) from the Android Marketplace, you can install a NES emulator app on Android. The one emulator that we can highly recommend is Nesoid.
