Love story: He held my sister's hand by mistake!

We invited readers to share stories of how they met their spouses and interesting anecdotes about their wedding day. Here's Samarpita's account of her sister's wedding:

This isn't my love story but it is the most romantic incident I have seen.  It happened at my sister's wedding.

My sister Sangeeta was completing her M.Com when her marriage was fixed with Avoy who was working in the US at that time.

After their engagement, they would spend at least three to four hours on international calls every day! Once she was cooking something for us when she got a call form Avoy.

I don't know what they spoke but she seemed really happy and after she hung up, she went off to the bedroom. Meanwhile she'd completely forgotten about the curry and we ended up having some burnt curry that day.

There were so many lovely incidents leading to their marriage but the best one was on her wedding day itself! That day it was raining heavily.

She was felling very sleepy and the barat had been delayed because of the rain. When the priest was chanting he said 'Agni hi swah'. It was supposed to be a cue for the groom to seek warm blessings form the holy fire. But my brother-in-law held my sister instead!

Immediately one of my sisters and I started singing, "Hota hai hota hai ye sabko ikbar koi ise kuch bhi kahe hum to kahe pyar!" All the guests had a good laugh. My sister and brother-in-law laughed too. It was a picture-perfect scene. It has been eight years since that day. Today they are blessed with an angel called Astha.
