We invited readers to send in their favourite travel pic -- that one photograph that perfectly captures the beauty of a place they visited.

First up is Ujjal Dutta's photograph taken on his trip to Chardham, Uttaranchal while travelling to the Gangotri.

"The places along the way were so scenic that I felt like capturing everything on my camera," he says. "The hills, the snow peaks, the river streams, the people, the temples, the food...everything."

Athirapally Falls, Kerala


This is heaven on earth," says Aishwarya Ramnath of the falls. Located around two hours away from Valparai, the
breathtaking view is a real treat.

"The ride through the forest to reach the falls was really thrilling too," she adds.

Puri, Orissa


Next Saikat Nandy shares this pic. "One of the four celebrated religious centres of India -- Puri, the abode of Lord Jagannath -- needs no introduction," he says. "The sunny beach at Puri is one of the finest in the world, and so is the sunset."
 

Ladakh, Kashmir


This picture was taken on the way from Manali to Ladakh in August 2009," says Trupti Shah.

"The journey itself is a must, just to see the beautiful and ever-changing landscapes. One can see snow-capped mountains, barren lands, sand dunes, flowing waters and lush vegetation all in a matter of few hours."

Murud Janjira, Maharashtra


Bhagyesh Kambli shares this picture that he took in January this year on a ferry to Murud Janjira, a beach town famous for its island fort.

Nako Lake, Himachal Pradesh


Aarti Dayal visited Nako Lake, Kinnaur, Himachal Pradesh with her husband Harsh in September 2009.

At a height of around 3,662 metres (12,010 ft) above sea level, the lake is surrounded by willow and poplar trees. The lake is at a distance of about 100 kms (four hours) from Reckong Peo, the capital of the Kinnaur district, and falls on a short detour from the Hindustan-Tibet road.

"What I liked most about the place was the lovely reflection of the beautiful yellow willow trees in the lake -- truly mesmerising!"

Gangtok, Sikkim


Indrajit Roy spent Diwali in Gangtok and Pelling back in 2008 and sends in this photograph from the trip.

And how would he describe the place? Simply put: "Awesome!"

Sar Pass, Himachal Pradesh


Devayani Barve participated in an amateur Himalayan expedition to Sar Pass in Kullu, HP in May 2009. "In this
picture we were on our way to the Sar Pass peak," she shares.

Horseley Hills, Andhra Pradesh


Pritika Gupta shares this pic taken from Horsley Hills (near Cuddapah). "We visited in August 2008. With a little drizzle, the weather was just perfect."

Christ Church, Shimla


Rishi Bandoo sends in this photopgraph of Christ Church in Shimla (Himachal Pradesh). Apart from being a landmark in Shimla and the second oldest church in North India, it is also famous for being a movie location for quite a few Bollywood films.
