Last updated on: January 18, 2010 17:10 IST

Commercial breaks usually cheese viewers off in the midst of interesting TV shows -- that's when you get up for a quick snack, to stretch your legs or visit the bathroom. But then there are some downright entertaining commercials that you just can't resist. So here's a list of the best TV ads of 2009 -- and we want you to vote for your favourite!

Vodafone's Zoozoo campaign

Well, we're not talking about one particular commercial in this case, but cellular service provider Vodafone's launch of the lovable 'Zoozoo' characters as a series was an undeniable hit in 2009.

This has got to be one of, if not the hottest thing on Indian television by way of a marketing campaign these last few months and some of us are more entertained when the Zoozoos come on, rather than the show we're tuned in to watch!

Max New York Life Insurance

Ah, the sweet, sweet embarassment we suffer at the hands of parents in the presence of the opposite sex. Max New York Life Insurance capitalised on it with this commercial -- and the punchline, 'Pet saaf rahega beta'!

Coca-Cola

An out-of-the-box idea, great effects and superb execution -- that's this latest offering from the Coca-Cola Company for you. The soft drink is an old favourite and something tells us this commercial will become one too.

The Axe Effect

The scent of a hunk rubbing off on a geek pays off bigtime and he gets the girl. But true to the cliche we all love, he's back in a hot soup when she leaves and he's faced with a leather-clad biker who finds him alluring too! What can you do, it's the Axe Effect!

Saint Juice

The good folks at Saint Juice sure got it right with this commercial. Nature in all its glory, heavenly vistas and as classical music plays softly, tetrapacks of Saint Juice spring from summer buds. Mmmm! Their tagline hits the spot -- 'Juice the way God meant it to be.'

IDBI Bank

Here's another ad that struck the right chord. A little boy, a baby elephant and an unusual friendship -- awwww! It had us reaching for our hankies, plus it drives the point home. Sniff.

Fiat Linea

Another endearing little guy ensured that Fiat Linea's simple but smile-inducing concept was well-received. Imitating big brother, struggling to learn how to whistle and a sleek car that makes it all possible.

Surf Excel

Chalk up another one for the little brigade. Surf Excel scored major brownie points with this ad, in which a student cheers up a teacher bereaved of her dog and ends up muddying himself in the process. But what of it? According to them, 'dagh achhe hain'.

Pepsi My Can

To what extent should you go to secure the new, improved, slim can from Pepsi? Cricketers Dhoni, Uttappa, Sehwag, Ishant and Praveen Kumar battle it out with young fishermen in the backwaters for a stash of the drink. Sure makes it look appealing, doesn't it?

Happydent Wave Chewing Gum

A bunch of glowing tuskers in the midst of a jungle -- all because of Happydent Wave, which is supposed to have teeth-whitening properties! We can't vouch for the effectiveness of the gum, but we can vouch for the entertainment value!

Tata Sky

This is one of the few ads featuring celebs that is entertaining. Aamir Khan plays a seedy ventriloquist to the hilt and his puppet is a cuddly, speaking television set. Nice!

IDEA Cellular

And in this final ad on our list, Abhishek joins Aamir for his 'walk when you talk' IDEA ad. The city joins in on this funda and everyone is happy. So are we.
