Lingerie giant Triumph International held the Indian leg of its annual worldwide lingerie design contest, the Triumph Inspiration Award 2010, in Mumbai last week.
Young Indian designers competed against each other to qualify for the final round of the competition, to be held in London this coming September, where an international jury and an online audience will select the winner from among 29 countries.
The award for first place is a cash prize of 15,000 Euros, along with 10,000 Euros and 5,000 Euros for the first and second runner-up respectively. The grand prize winner will also have the opportunity to turn his/entry into a limited-edition commercial product, which will be available at select Triumph outlets next year.
In India, seven design schools came together to participate and the theme was 'Shape Sensation', where entrants were meant to express their take on various shapes and silhouettes.
The judging panel consisted of Mr Thorsten Allenstein, MD, Triumph International, India and Sri Lanka; Meher Castelino, former Miss India and fashion consultant; and eminent fashion designers Neeta Lulla, Babita Malkani and Anita Dongre.
So here's a look at some smokin' hot lingerie from India's young talent! We start with the winning entry, by Yadvi Aggarwal from the Pearl Academy of Fashion -- a green, flowery two-piece complete with above-the-knee netted stockings.
Bubblegum princess
First runner-up was Sneha Advani from WLC, who created this fluffy feminine number, showing off a multi-coloured, textured bra and matching briefs. A flouncy tulle wrap completed the look.
Ribbons galore
Shradha Grover, also from the Pearl Academy of Fashion, nabbed third place with this bondage piece, complete with laced-up ribbons and light-up detail on the bra!
Going Gaga
While there could be only three winners, quite a few other remarkable ensembles were also showcased, like this Lady Gaga-esque, scooter-inspired get-up. Whacky, weird and definitely eye-catching!
Origami inspiration
This blue design also received attention, specifically for the lovely origami-inspired pleating and textured detail. The bubble skirt is a nice touch.
Bridal blast
There's no mistaking the bridal overtones on this one! Delicate white net is held up with wiring to create a unique silhouette and teamed with satin boyshorts beneath.
Geometrical overkill
Another origami two-piece takes to the runway, this time in blue and white. The goth-style makeup and hair gives it a very tough-girl appeal.
The winning trio
And here we have the three winners (from left to right) Shradha Grover, Yadvi Aggarwal and Sneha Advani take a bow at the end of the showing alongside their creations and the MD of Triumph.
Will one of them emerge the victor at the Inspiration Award finals in London later this year? We'll just have to wait and watch!
