Campaign against caste: 'Caste in census will partition India'

On May 11 we launched our campaign against caste in census 2011 and responses from readers have been pouring in. While some merely clicked the 'I am against the caste census' button, others were more vocal. We present what our readers had to say:

We people did it. In India politicians ask votes based on caste. Even in big cities, people look at caste for example marriage. Look at any matrimony sites for example. The profiles in Matrimony sites are not created by Mr. Manmohan singh or any politicians. It was created by us. There 95% of the people mention their caste and prefer marrying a person of same caste, otherwise they reject the proposals. It is because of narrow minded citizens. India is caste based not because of politicians, but because of corrupt and narrow minded citizens. Casteism has to be stopped by us first, only then we can stop India from being a casteist country. |
