Last updated on: June 17, 2010 13:37 IST

There was a time not too long ago when getting a first class in your class X exams almost guaranteed admission into the country's best courses and colleges. Today however, even a commendable 85 per cent means you might have to settle for second-best. Thank the system and extraordinary increase in competition for this (stressful) state of affairs.

Last year, most of the top science colleges had cut-offs beginning at over 90 per cent. Top commerce colleges took a similar path, while top arts colleges began their cut-offs at 87 and above.

What this year holds remains to be seen as colleges begin their admissions process to determine the cut-offs for the new academic year. In the mean time however, students busy themselves with college applications as they get set to embark on this exciting new phase of their lives.

To help them decide on which colleges to apply to, we're asking you, Dear Reader, to share information you may have of college admissions and cut-offs.

Do you know what the college cut-offs are in your city?

What is the cut-off for the first list in Chennai's best science college? Or the arts cut-off in Bangalore's top colleges?
